Sizing Guide: Yuketen moccasin styles are true to US standard size. We recommend checking your shoe size in the New Balance Made in USA models (ex. 993, 996, 998) or on the Brannock Device. 

Please note that this is just a sizing reference. Every single person has different shape of foot. Thus, to determine the most accurate size for your foot, we suggest visiting a Yuketen stockist if there is one near you for fitting advice and the opportunity to try on an actual pair. Our Director Yuki Matsuda’s design inspiration with the Yuketen Made in Italy collection was to take classic American footwear styles and meticulously craft them in a historic, artisanal Italian factory nestled in Mount Sibillini, Italy, part of the stunning Apennine Mountain Range.

Yuki always dreamed of making an exceptional, handcrafted hiking boot, Yuketen style – handcrafted with premium materials and artisanal expertise. While visiting the factory in Italy, Yuki walked through a small village with cobblestone roads. There, he spotted a sharply dressed local Italian gentleman confidently navigating the cobblestone road in a pair of beautiful hiking boots. Not only did these boots look remarkable, but they also gave him the confidence and support needed for cobblestone roads and life’s journey. Yuki was reminded of his dream to make an amazing Yuketen hiking boot.

Our factory in Italy has a rich legacy of crafting hiking boots. While the usual design concept or theme with the Yuketen Made in Italy Collection is to make Classic American Styles in our small artisanal factory in Italy. Yuki couldn’t pass up this opportunity to make a European Hiking Boot. With the Italian factory’s history and experience collaborating with Yuki’s experience and discerning eye for detail the Vettore Boot was born!

We are so proud to present this boot to you, it’s so sophisticated looking you can dress it up and wear it out to a nice dinner. BUT when you start to look into the details will truly be impressed. Adorned with high-quality metal D-Ring and hook eyelets and laced up with genuine kudu hide leather laces, the Vettore Boot blends style and substance.

The padded and gusseted tongue provides comfort and protects you from debris getting into the shoes. The padded collar adds ankle comfort, support, and a little extra insulation. We've included an additional 3mm vegetable-tanned leather insole on top of our standard 5mm insole for extra support.

We worked with Opera Leather in Tuscany to produce our exquisite Palermo Leather, a stunning scotch grain leather. The uppers are crafted from this exceptional Palermo Leather, known for its thickness, high quality, and full-grain richness. Not only is it robust and resilient against daily wear, but it also boasts a strikingly luxurious finish, featuring a distinctive scotch grain print. This premium leather elevates our version of the European Hiking Boot, giving it a rugged yet sophisticated look.

Inspired by Yuki's old American Work Boots, we utilized Goodyear Scalloped Storm Leather Welt Construction. In this technique, our 360° hand-channeled, 5mm thick leather insoles are sewn to the upper using a strip of leather (the "welt"). A "scalloped storm leather welt" incorporates a welt with a built-in scalloped side wall, providing a more moisture-resistant, tight seal. Although labor-intensive and time consuming, our Goodyear Scalloped Storm Leather Welt Construction ensures superior artisanal construction, enhanced comfort, increased durability, additional water-resistance, easy resoling, and a beautiful, finished look.

The Yuketen insole is made with 5mm thick full vegetable-tanned leather. Under the insole we have a shank and cork filling and then the midsole. The shank lessens foot fatigue by forming a stable bridge between the heel and ball of the foot which causes weight to be distributed more evenly across the foot. This design promotes even weight distribution across the foot for all day support. The cork filling provides a layer of cushioning that molds to the shape of your feet over time, insulation from extreme temperatures, and is both breathable and moisture absorbing. As you wear the boots, the insole, shank, and cork filling will all gradually mold to the unique contours of your feet, providing the perfect, custom fit.

This all rests atop a foundation comprised of a thick veg-tan leather midsole, rubber midsole, and the Cortina Cork Lug sole. The Cortina Cork Lug sole is known for its grip and durability but also looks great. This cork version is infused with bits of cork tips, Yuki loves this sole because they remind him of old 1930’s American Work Boots. Originally designed for the 1956 Winter Olympic Games in Cortina, Italy it is Yuki’s favorite sole for Yuketen. Every pair is meticulously handcrafted in Italy using the finest components and materials, ensuring that these boots can be easily resoled, making them a testament to quality and longevity in footwear.
