Sizing Guide: Yuketen moccasin styles are true to US standard size. We recommend checking your shoe size in the New Balance Made in USA models (ex. 993, 996, 998) or on the Brannock Device. 

Please note that this is just a sizing reference. Every single person has different shape of foot. Thus, to determine the most accurate size for your foot, we suggest visiting a Yuketen stockist if there is one near you for fitting advice and the opportunity to try on an actual pair. Our Director Yuki Matsuda’s design inspiration with the Yuketen Made in Italy collection was to take classic American footwear styles and meticulously craft them in a historic, artisanal Italian factory nestled in Mount Sibillini, Italy, part of the stunning Apennine Mountain Range.

The Blucher moccasin gained popularity in the 1950s and 60s, offering a refined take on the lace-up moccasin style most often associated with boat shoes at the time. It featured a more sophisticated, elongated silhouette, reminiscent of a more formal dress shoe. The Blucher is one of our most popular Yuketen styles.

Yuki wanted to see what would happen if we took this classic American footwear style and made it in our Italian workshop. He loved the result and is excited to present the Made in Italy Blucher with Kiltie with Cortina Sole.

We worked with Opera Leather in Tuscany to produce our exquisite Palermo Leather, a stunning scotch grain leather. The uppers are crafted from this exceptional Palermo Leather, known for its thickness, high quality, and full-grain richness. Not only is it robust and resilient against daily wear, but it also boasts a strikingly luxurious finish, featuring a distinctive scotch grain print. This premium leather elevates our classic Blucher to unprecedented heights, offering a level of sophistication and style that is truly unparalleled.

Handcrafted in Italy using Genuine Moccasin Construction, this technique involves enveloping your foot in leather by wrapping the leather from underneath, like wearing a thick, comfy, leather sock. Our original pattern is different from standard moccasins, we use more leather on the vamp. While this requires additional leather, it ensures a comprehensive wrapping around your foot, providing a snug and comfortable fit, in contrast to the shallower feel of standard Genuine Moccasin Construction.

The Yuketen insole is impeccably constructed with full vegetable-tanned leather, a leather tuck with shank, memory foam and arch cushion. This construction ensures an exceptional fit and reduces foot fatigue by forming a stable bridge between the heel and ball of the foot. This design promotes even weight distribution across the foot for all day support. As you wear the shoes, the insole will gradually mold to the unique contours of your feet, providing the perfect, custom fit.

Some noteworthy design elements of the Made in Italy Yuketen Blucher include a removable kiltie, decorative pinking on the heel seam cover and collar, sleek metal eyelets, and shoelaces crafted from strong kudu leather. These details add an elegant touch to this updated Yuketen moccasin style.

This all rests atop a foundation comprised of a thick veg-tan leather midsole, rubber midsole, and the Cortina Lug sole. The Cortina Lug sole is known for its grip and durability but also looks great. Originally designed for the 1956 Winter Olympic Games in Cortina, Italy it is Yuki’s favorite sole for Yuketen. Every pair is meticulously handcrafted in Italy using the finest components and materials, ensuring that these boots can be easily resoled, making them a testament to quality and longevity in footwear.
