Botin

Yuketen’s side-gore boot style, the Botin, is entirely handcut and benchmade in Mexico the way western boots are supposed to be made with Goodyear-welted construction and old world bootmaking techniques for the ideal union of comfort and style.

These boots are handcrafted from from a rich and malleable full grain cow leather upper lined with soft-tanned cow leather, resulting in wonderful contrasts and patinas over time. An equally fundamental components of this style are the sturdy foundation that is constructed of multiple layers of hand-shaved 100% veg-tan leather welt, outsole and stuck heel.

The other important component used in the construction is the lemonwood pegs that are hand-hammered into the bottom of the outsoles to secure the stuck heel. The lemonwood pegs are more malleable than brass nails as they expand when exposed to water and contract with moisture at almost an identical rate as leathers.

Yuketen’s meticulous Goodyear stitches are made by a sturdy 1910 German-made welt stitcher with close channel stitching technique, which seals the goodyear stitching seams at the bottom of the outsole leather to eliminate thread breakage. Veg-tan leather insoles ensure conformity to the shape of the wearer’s foot for long-term comfort. Forepart of the insoles are hand-sanded as it helps to absorb the moisture from the feet and keeps them dry.

These remarkable features mark a new direction for Yuketen’s design aesthetic verging toward formal elegance while simultaneously maintaining all core principles and construction techniques for highest-quality handmade products.
